Julius was the recent recipient of the Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Tucker `50 Excellence in Teaching Award, the highest award for teaching in the Cornell College of Engineering. The award recognizes Julius’ excellence and achievements in teaching Heat and Mass Transfer, and his co-creation of ChemE 7770 “Advanced Principles of Biomolecular Engineering”, one of the first classes among its kind in the nation that teaches quantitative bimolecular engineering principles at the graduate level. The award also recognizes Julius’ role in co-creating the Cold Spring Harbor Synthetic Biology Summer Course, dedicated to training the next generation of synthetic biologists and helping set the research agenda for the field.
